3D Secure, 3DS, or 3DS 2.0 is a protocol implemented by various card networks to improve security for card-not-present transactions such as online purchases or telephone orders.

In the Philippines, 3DS is the most common form of safety feature that authenticates online transactions through Verified by Visa or Mastercard SecureCode.

From your customer's point of view:

  1. They are required to input a one-time password (OTP) that is sent to their mobile phones so that they may confirm a purchase.

  2. 3DS 2.0 allows your customers to pay without requiring a one-time password (OTP) - this is based on the parameters set by the customer's issuing bank, the transaction is decided to be risk-free. Another term for this is Frictionless flow.

Note:

Do note that the frictionless flow helps to lessen the occurrences of ACS issues since your customers won't go through the OTP page as much.
