Hosted Onboarding enables you to generate a unique KYC form that you can send to each of your Child accounts. With this form, your Child accounts can easily provide the necessary documents and information to onboard on your platform.

Who is Hosted Onboarding for?

These represent the support account types supported by Hosted Onboarding.

  • Parent Merchant: Your business, the primary account holder with PayMongo Seeds. PayMongo will directly communicate with you regarding account management and transactions.

  • Child: Sub-accounts created under your Parent Merchant account and onboarded onto PayMongo. Child accounts can be categorized as:

    • Child Merchant: A business operating within your platform, selling goods or services and accepting payments. This is currently only available via Onboarding API

    • Consumer: Individuals who transact on your platform with their personal PayMongo Wallet. Some consumers may have business documents (e.g., freelancers, delivery riders) while others may not.

For Hosted Onboarding, we only currently support Consumer accounts that can store and transfer funds from a PayMongo Wallet to their nominated bank account. Stay tuned for onboarding sub-merchants that can accept payments on your behalf!

Key Features

  • Streamlined KYC collection: The Hosted Form centralizes KYC information gathering, ensuring your business consumers can onboard with ease.

  • Customizable Onboarding Link: Generate a unique onboarding link for each business consumer directly from your dashboard, allowing you to control access.

  • Secure Access for Child Accounts: The Hosted Form ensures that only your intended business consumers can submit KYC information, maintaining data security.

How does Hosted Onboarding work?

1. Log in to Your PayMongo Dashboard. Access your PayMongo dashboard and head to the Seeds section. Under the Child accounts page, you'll find an "Invite" button on the right for generating the hosted onboarding link.

2. Generate the Onboarding Link. On the Invite a Child account screen, you can view the available features for your Child account. As of now, storing funds in a PayMongo Wallet and transferring them to a bank account are the only supported features. Stay tuned for onboarding Child accounts that can accept payments and transact on your platform exclusively!

Upon clicking "Continue", the unique Hosted Onboarding link will be generated so you can copy and paste it to any messaging channel (e.g., email, SMS, or direct message) for your Child KYC application.

Take note: You won't be able to access this link again. Make sure to store it securely before leaving this page. You Child account has 7 days to submit their details and requirements before the link expires. A new link will have to be generated once the original link expires.

3. Tracking Events in Security Logs. You can track invite activities under the Security logs section on your PayMongo Dashboard. Take note: only account owners are allowed to invite Child accounts.

When you view an Event in a security log, it will contain the following information:

You'll also be able to filter for the Invited a child account event for easy tracking.

3. Child Account Access and Verification. After you've sent the unique onboarding link to your Child account, they'll need to provide their basic details:

  • Legal name

  • Email address

  • Mobile number

  • Agreement to the Terms and Conditions

4. Form Completion Steps

  • ID Upload: After OTP verification, they’ll be prompted to upload a valid ID. The list of valid IDs can be found here.

  • Selfie Verification: A selfie is then required for ID verification purposes. Please review our [selfie guidelines](#) for a quicker onboarding process.

  • Personal Details: The next screen will prompt the business consumer to provide additional personal details, which they can review on the page [image here].

  • Review and Finalize: After filling in all required information, they’ll be asked to review their information before continuing to the final step.

  • Statement of Acceptance and e-Signature: In the last screen, they will provide their e-signature to acknowledge the PayMongo Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and Data Processing/Sharing Agreement (collectively, the "PayMongo Agreement").
