What this means
When you first activate your PayMongo account, QR Ph is automatically enabled. This allows you to accept payments via QR code immediately.
Other payment methods—such as Credit/Debit Cards, GCash, Maya, GrabPay, and Online Banking—are not turned on by default. You must request these separately in your dashboard settings.
Why this happens
Financial partners and regulators have different requirements for different types of businesses.
Security: We need to verify your identity (Liveness Check) before you can activate advanced payment channels.
Eligibility: Certain payment methods, like Credit Cards and GCash, are only available to registered businesses (Sole Proprietors, Corporations, etc.) and not to unregistered individuals.
What you can do
1. Check your eligibility
The payment methods you can activate depend on your business type:
Individuals (Unregistered):
QR Ph: Available immediately.
Online Banking & Other E-wallets (Maya, GrabPay, ShopeePay): Available only if you have a website.
Cards & GCash: Not available.
Registered Businesses (Sole Prop, Partnership, Corp, OPC):
QR Ph: Available immediately.
All other methods: Eligible to request all methods, including Credit/Debit Cards, GCash, and Online Banking.
2. Ensure your account is ready
Before requesting new methods, you must have an Enabled Wallet. This means you have successfully passed the Liveness Check (selfie and ID verification) during sign-up.
3. Request payment methods
If you are eligible and verified, follow these steps:
Log in to your PayMongo Dashboard.
Go to Settings > Payment Methods.
Toggle or request the specific payment methods you want to use.
What happens next
Once you request a payment method, it goes through a review process with our financial partners.
BPI & UnionBank Online Banking: Typically approved in 3 business days.
Cards, GCash, Maya, GrabPay: Typically approved in 5 business days.
You will see the status update in your dashboard once approved.
