How are e-wallet payments authenticated?

Learn how PayMongo verifies the GCash, GrabPay and Maya accounts of your customers.

Below is the authentication flow for each payment method.

GCash

  1. The customer will be asked to log in to their GCash account using their mobile number.

  2. An OTP will be sent to the customer's mobile number.

  3. Once the OTP input is successful, the customer will be prompted to log in using their 4-digit MPIN.

  4. The customer will be prompted to review the transaction details before proceeding to payment.

GrabPay

  1. The customer will be asked to log in to their Grab account using their mobile number.

  2. An OTP will be sent to the customer's mobile number.

  3. Once the OTP input is successful, the customer will be prompted to review the transaction details before proceeding to payment.

Maya

The customer can make the payment by scanning the QR code from the Maya app, or by selecting "Pay with Maya".

If customer selects "Pay with Maya":

  1. They will be redirected to the "Pay with Maya" page where they will be asked to enter their Maya registered mobile number and password.

  2. An OTP will be sent to the customer's mobile number.

  3. Once the OTP input is successful, the customer will be prompted to confirm the payment and click "Proceed to pay"

  4. The customer receives a confirmation message that the payment is successful.

If customer scans the QR code:

  1. On the Maya app the customer will be prompted to confirm the payment and click "Pay"

  2. The customer receives a confirmation message that the payment is successful.
